Beautifully crafted and ethically hand-loomed by traditional woman artisans from the Himalayan belt. Drape it over your bed or cozy up on the couch on those cold winter nights reading a book. Great for those live outdoor music concerts and movies or to sit around the fireplace. Our throws are made from a blend of merino wool and angora wool, all natural dyed, individually touched by human hands making them unique and heirlooms to be cherished. Any slight imperfection is an individual expression of that artisan’s “perfect” handy work.
Material: Merino wool, Angora wool, natural dyes
Size: 50” x 70”
Wool has excellent natural dirt-resistant properties which makes it unnecessary to wash often. Let your blanket air outside in humid weather. If your blanket still needs maintenance, please dry clean only. Iron at medium temperature. Do not tumble dry or use bleach.
In remote villages tucked into the Himalayan mountain belt of North India, Maati Collective members, a self-help group, are revitalizing woolen crafts by combining traditional techniques and natural materials with modern designs. Through this regeneration of knitting and weaving practices, over 100 women artisans improve their lives and strengthen local communities.
We are taking pre-orders at this time. We find that this approach allows you to decide what goes into production. This way we can get to know your taste and eliminate overproduction and a wasteful, unsustainable business model. Delivery of your item(s) will start from late August. We will keep you posted via email on the progress. For more info read our FAQ page.
