Who made this product? The Tunisian artisan studio Dishes & Deco was founded in 2009. This studio grew out of a love of Mediterranean dishes and the desire to bring them to European and American markets. The result is a variety of colorful mandala-like patterns and bold stripes. Inside the 8,000 square foot studio, over a dozen artisans hand paint each line, dot and stroke of glaze onto the white clay dishes.
Why is it ethical? Dishes and Deco is committed to the well-being of the artisans. The studio offers permanent contracts, a scholarship for training and provides free transportation to and from the studio.This benefits the artisans, their children, and the community as a whole.
TerraKlay is bringing a wide range of functional designs in stoneware pottery created by craftsmen and craftswomen from south India's village community.
These products were born from the idea to create a platform where the villagers could live and work in their village and learn a new skill instead needing to migrate to bigger cities. This led to the creation of a range of "eco-friendly products" wheel-thrown by village craftsmen. All stoneware cups are fair trade and show the beauty of their handmade artistry.
